Renungan setelah resign..

Life is a compilation of decisions you made. Let it be tiny or gigantic.

My career has always been my priority, I worked my ass off to be in the position I am today, so much sweat, tears, frustration, craziness, not gonna lie that LUCK and support from my surroundings are also two big elements.

Leaving my first job who made me a professional I am today was one hard decision I took. The company has been a big part of my life, I came as management trainee who barely know anything but I gradually progress til’ the time I got offer from another company after 3.5 years length of work.

When the offer came, all I see is merely new experiences in different industry as well as the financial benefit increment.

I can’t help not to take the offer as well as thinking “ahhh new industry, I’ll learn something new as this company is currently growing massively!” and then boom I don’t feel like I belong here~ even after 2 months.. (which for me 2 months is quite some time for adjustment & knowing if this will progress to be better or worse.)

At first I was denial, but now I embrace the fact that I took a ‘wrong’ decisions by moving from my previous company. Now, (and in the hard-way) I realize work is not always about the financial benefit and new experiences is not always that exciting~~

When it comes to work, aspects like company cultures, direct leader, colleagues, the impact you create for the company, consumer & people in general are really matter.

2022 taught me a lot of thing, whether I’m ready or not, like it or not.

The biggest lesson I keep on getting from every milestones across the year is to stay true and follow what I think is the best for me at the moment. Though I might fail, sad, desperate, got crazy in the middle but I feel like I need to believe there’s always a way out, I’ll figure things out & learn my lessons along the way.

I will never scared to take decisions, and if later I feel like it’s a wrong one, i’ll try to always embrace it shamelessly.
Wrong decision shows me new perspective and now I know what suits me better.

Learning from everything that year 2022 has taught me, in 2023 I will learn and transform myself from a lady who takes impulsive & rushing decision into a lady who take decision with proper reasoning & in the right time manner. *inhale~ exhale~ trying to smile~*

Here to a better 2023!! *cheeeers* 🙂

Welcoming 2023,

2022 is definitely the hardest year I ever need to live in. There was too much turbulences, uncertainty, heartbreaks. All the good things that happened throughout the year seems nothing compare to the sadness, confusion & hardship I encountered.

The most life-changing event of this year is that I lost my Dad. The person I used to talk to every single day, never in my life that 1 day I did not text him to simply saying ‘good morning’ & ask what did he eat for lunch??

28 October 2022 is the day he passed away and nothing will ever feel the same. I lost the man I trust, I lost the man who never was & never will disappoint me, I lost my protector for as long as I will live my life.

As much as I want to live my life & see what’s good happened this year? The answer is nothing. If I can trade all the good things happened to me throughout the year with living a miserable life but still with my Dad right by my side, I would do so… but I could not..

So here to another 365 days in 2023, hoping this year is a better year as now I have a heart that is stronger than ever ♡

Al-Fatihah for Bpk. Sasongko Bin Said Sangadi, may he always rest in peace.

Who Moved My Cheese?

A book by Spencer Johnson, Kenneth H. Blanchard

What triggered me to read “Who Moved my Cheese?” was the subtitle itself which says “An Amazing Way to Deal with Change.. In Your Work & In Your Life” which was so relatable during that moment when  the company I work for decided to re-merge all the business units back into one.

With analogy of 4 characters, a maze, and a cheese; this book helps me understand the situation & the feeling I had along with capturing what are possible ways to react. It helps me learn to deal with changes and guides me to suffer less stress.

The story revolves around 4 different ways to react (portrayed as 4 characters) when an unexpected “change” in circumstances (portrayed as the maze) deprives them from the things they love / enjoy having in life (portrayed as cheese).

In recap, those 4 different ways are:

  1. Sniffs out change early.
  2. Scurries into action.
  3. Fears & denies change – worry it will lead to something worse
  4. Learn to adapt in time and see changes as an opportunity to get into something better.

Here are my key take outs from the book that help me put myself  together and deal with changes:

  1. Change could surprise you only if you don’t expect it. We should understand that it’s natural for change to continually occur, whether you expect it or not.
  2. Fear has 2 impacts. Good → when fear leads you to take action because you are scared things are going to get worse if you do nothing; Not Good → when you’re so afraid that it keeps you from doing anything.
  3. We suffer more often in imagination than in reality. Everytime you start to feel discouraged, remind yourself that what you’re doing, even as uncomfortable as it was at the moment, is much better than staying still and doing nothing / only thinking about it.
  4. What comes is better than what’s gone. Think  of “what you could gain” instead of “what you are losing” when changes occured
  5. What you believe determines what you do. If you believe change will harm you, then you will resist it; But if you believe change will help you, then you will embrace it
  6. Noticing small changes early can help you adapt to bigger changes that are to come
  7. The biggest inhibitor to change lies within yourself, and that nothing gets better until YOU change

I’m still honing my skills to sniff changes early and scurrying into action. I believe it’s a continuous work in progress; as the changes keep coming, the need to find ways to deal with it will never disappear.

Quoting directly from the book: “In a world that is constantly changing, it is to our advantage to learn how to adapt and enjoy something better.”

Trekking to Curug Kembar

Dating on the weekend for Tito & I is basically another movie date / coffee session, not saying that we’re not enjoying these kind of date but after 11 months of these routine, we feel like we need to do something new & different, hence we try to combine some ideas and create a list of fun activities that we can do together, as we both living alone in Jakarta and often free during the weekend.

While thinking & browsing for some ideas with 2 important filters: FUN & SAFE (considering current Covid-19 condition), we were stumbled upon a travel vlog from YouTube channel: Travel Secrets in the episode of: Trekking dan Main Air di Curug Bogor – and it got me thinking:

Hmm, I personally never do a serious trekking, but it doesn’t seems so hard; Tito is a mountain climber so he must be happy to go trekking, Curug Bogor is just 2 hours away from Jakarta with car — I think, this trekking idea must be fun and doable activity for us both ?!

Just like offering candies to a kiddo, it’s a yes YES from this nature-lover-guy to go trekking! with all information gathered from Google, we were finally planning this mini-adventure to Curug Kembar, Bogor together! ╰(*°▽°*)╯

And through this blog post, I would like to share with you any details about this trip & recommendation based on our experience, I hope you find it helpful! (❁´◡`❁)

#Planning The Trip:

Please bear in mind that everyone has their own way when it comes to plan a trip. Some people prefer to have a) spontaneous trip & go-with-the-flow activities, well others b) choose to dedicate some moments to do research, creating an itinerary in excel and go deep on the details, well I tend to be 75% of type #b and 25% of type #a, based on my mood & excitement toward the trip ^_^

Oh but luckily, Tito is very structured & neat, so we’re aligned to go with TYPE B for our very first mini-trip together; without further ado, let’s get started!

Working on the Itinerary

I bet you’re all familiar with Google Sheet? – because this spreadsheet program will be the main tools for the planning section. We found it very simple and helpful to split each of every task.

  1. First thing first, we created 4 different sheets as per below, if you have your own car or planning to go with a motorbike, then you only need 3 sheets

Sheets

2. Itinerary:

itin

We try to make the itinerary as detail as possible but this one above has been adjusted to what really happened on the trip (which isn’t so different from the 1st plan), I just adjusted the timing and delete 1 other waterfall (Curug) that we decided not to visit, why? will get to that in the next session (●’◡’●)  + I will breakdown in detail all the budget, what I putted here is just a brief budget on-the-go

3. Logistic

I don’t know why Tito named it after Logistic? it sounds weird to me but anyway I hope you got the point on what we’re going to show in the part of things-to-bring (well now I agree with his idea of calling it logistic (•_•) ) , first we divided it into 2 categories: personal & group then put a tick box on every item to help us split the tasks & re-check while putting it on our bag.

personalgroup

4. Car Rent

If you own a car or planning to go with a motorbike, you can skip this section and go to the next point. In this section, I want to share our 1st experience renting a car from Traveloka Car Rent which surprisingly very convenient and has better rate compare to other car rent (in our case, we only compare it to ShareCar.co.id). Traveloka has many options for the car, but we chose the basic New Avanza from its partner: Moovby.

moovbyMoovby has a very good rating, they are refundable and what makes them convenient is that they can send and pick up the car to and from your place (I’m not sure if all the car rent do that since it’s my first time renting a car also (╯▽╰ ) )

The budget we spent to rent the car is 456,000 Rupiah. For us, it’s reasonable & worth it (❁´◡`❁) below is the detail:

car rent

5. Overall Budget

Move to the last part on planning session: budgeting. In this part, I will recap all the things from the logistic part (mostly food/snacks), the highway fee, fuel, and car rent as per below:

budget

I let you decide your thoughts whether it’s too much or too cheap, but for us it’s really worth the experiences ^_^

Fyuuuh, all this long story and we just finished the plan part?!

Ok, let’s just start the #OnTrekking part!

map curug So, basically the Curug Kembar that we’re going to visit is one from a cluster of 3 Curug located in Kampung Cibereum Cibadak, Sukamakmur Bogor, the other 2 curug (waterfalls) are: Curug Hordeng & Curug Ciburial. All these 3 are not so far from each other but it seems that Curug Ciburial is a bit further from the rests no? (hahaha say me & my lazy ass) (╯▽╰ )

From the welcome gate to the 1st Curug which is Curug Hordeng, it took us Âą 1 hour of trekking. I believe Tito can go faster alone, but he is with me and I’m very cautious with my steps, sooo? ^_^

The view on the way to Curug Hordeng was AMAZING! It was wide open so we can see the mountain range clearly. On top of that, we also pass through a big football field, flower meadow,  and a magnificent assembly of tree ferns! (Bahasa Indonesia: gugusan pohon pakis)

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The pathway to reach Curug Hordeng is not so hard for a complete beginner like me but of course  I need to always be extra careful because some of the uphill path is rocky and some are very slippery. I was using a basic running shoes so it gave me extra nervous when I faced a slippery up/down hill, if you have a trekking shoes or if money is not an issue to your life and you can easily buy a pair of new shoes, you better use a specific trekking shoes, ok?

When I feel like I can’t be more breathless in my life after 1 hour of trekking, I finally arrived in Curug Hordeng! Yeay!! Not lying, all those hard work to reach this curug is finally paid off! I was so happy & excited! When we arrived, there are already some group of people playing in the waterfall and we were hesitate to join them – then Tito was thinking to keep on trekking to 2nd curug which is Curug Kembar because the information board that was hanging there said Curug Kembar is only 0.7km far from Curug Hodeng.

We didn’t take any picturesin Curug Hordeng but I found one picture in Google showing that this Curug Hordeng is one beautiful waterfall that is worth a visit!

5

After Âą 15 minutes of trekking from Curug Hordeng, we finally arrived in Curug Kembar. I found the pathway to Curug Kembar from Curug Hordeng is a bit more challenging compare to the pathway from the gate to Curug Hordeng because it was smaller, more up & down hill, and very rocky.

Nothing worth having comes easy, huh? It felt so hard until I finally reached Curug Kembar and can’t stop wondering its beauty! I personally think that Curug Kembar is way bigger & prettier than Curug Hordeng! and what excites me the most is that there are many small curug pools where we can dip in & swim privately and that was what Tito & I were looking for! A curug pool for ourselves (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

Here we want to share some pictures we took in one of curug pool in Curug Kembar:

We were lost in time because we had so much fun playing in the pool together, chit-chating about the whole trekking experiences, while also eating the meals we brought from home. We ENJOY this moment a lot and decided not to continue trekking to Curug Ciburial because we already found what we’re looking for ^_^

The clock was showing 12 pm and the sun was above us, we finally decided to stop playing in the pool and trekking back to the car because we’re starving and really need a “real food”, not just an easy meal. On our way back, we made a stop on an Instant Noodle kiosk (Bahasa Indonesia: kios Indomie) and decided to have a bowl of instant noodle there + a view of the green forest from above. For your information, there are many Instant Noodle Kiosk here in the Curug area, so you don’t need to over-pack yourself with food or drinks and don’t worry, they’re not overcharge it just because you’re up in the hill ^_^

13

Finally, we were back in the car & start our way back to Jakarta with a tired body but recharged and happy soul! It was one great day for us because we finally did something good, new & different together.

Wrapping up this entire mini-journey, I’d like to recap by sharing tips & tricks to visit Curug Kembar:

  1. Better go as early as possible — the small & rocky road to get there, overflowing merchants on traditional market, and slow-moving freight truck will cost you quite some time from what Google Maps told you, if you can start your trip at 5 or 5:30, it would be great!
  2. Don’t forget to top-up your E-Money for the highway 😉 (we forgot)
  3. Prepare sufficient cash in small bills (5,000, 10,000, 20,000 IDR) because you might be stopped by the locals to pay some “obligatory fee” which we are not sure what does it for but okay o(=•ェ•=)m
  4. Don’t forget to bring spare clothes
  5. It’s OK to not bring your own meal, there are plenty of Indomie-kiosk uphill
  6. If you need to rent a car, Moovby is one recommended car rental you can try ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)
  7. Unpopular notes: Girls, bring your cap & wear that sunblock because the sun & heat there was not easy \( ̄︜ ̄*\))
  8. Take rests if you feel like you need to. Know your limit before you try to push it ^_^

And if you’re reading my words all the way here, I’d like to say Thank You so much❤! I always love to write but sometime feel discouraged to post it but yeah I would like to be more

If you’re one of my friend and have some more question, don’t hesitate to ask me whatever the question is, I will answer as much as I can, and if you don’t know me but have questions too, you can drop me an email here: septianiwina@gmail 😊

Stay tuned for more blog posts from me! I hope you find it informative & helpful! ^_^

#EmpoweredWomenEmpowerALL

Hi, hello readers!

It’s been a while since my last post and at some point in the middle of my lazy Saturday, I just triggered to write again,.. just to see if I still can put my thoughts in one blog-post 😜

So, earlier today, I was just laying on my bed, drinking my hot chocolate while scrolling my instagram feeds.. a moment later, my Spotify was shuffled to my one favorite song from Daya, “Sit Still, Look Pretty” and this thought comes by and I can’t stand to keep the thought to only myself. I need to write and share my opinion on my blog.. in this very moment..

The idea of Women Empowerment always mesmerized me.

Sharing you the reason why while recalling the memories which triggered me to be so.

Back then in Middle School, one friend of mine and I were volunteering ourselves to be a class-leader. To choose who’s going to be one, we did a voting.

As much as I remembered, I was so purposeful when I share the whole class about the vision I had & mission I’ll conduct once I become their leader. Well,.. it seems to me for a moment, that they were convinced because I took it seriously while the other candidate was just smiling & teasing without even telling the class what he has and going to do..

(I bet you know what’s going to happen next, but let me phrase it..) It turns out I lost my votes when one rebel-friend of mine shouting in the class “tapi masa, Ketua Murid kita perempuan” (translate: but how come our leader is a girl?)…. and just with that shout, all class were convinced not to choose me as their leader, because they don’t want to be lead by a girl. From 30 members of the class, all I got was 5 votes..

I’m not saying that he was incapable, but the fact that I was prepared & being so sharp about my goal was coming off the second-best after NOTHING but GENDER. It was really pissed me off.

In the middle of insecurities which I cannot resist possessing me, this one girl-classmate who gave me her vote was smiling and say “You’re way more capable of bigger things than leading these people who is not value you 🙂 don’t be sad, it made them happy”

Just that,.. I was recovered.

It took me a whole class to feel so low but one GIRL to bring me back empowered.

It can’t be more magical and I can’t be more grateful for that.

Imagine if this kind of things applied for every problems we face, isn’t world going to be much better place?

I realized that we women are gifted. Keep on being so positive, sweet, and empowering are one of our true superhero power. We believe in others even sometimes we are not much believe in ourselves and turns out we, ourselves, spreading out the strength.

And for every of these, I am so grateful that I surrounded by many amazing, empowered women. Who are so kind, smart, and capable of doing so much good things for not only themselves, but also for their loved ones and their surroundings.

To those amazing women, I would like to say Thank you for not giving up on any dreams you create, for not letting those pebbles hurt your feet & blurring your sight. Thank you for still believe that our future is better with us inside & for treasuring the pride of being a woman each single day. â¤ď¸

You girls are my inspiration, my motivation, my strength every damn time I feel small. Seeing you all happily-achieving things, sharing your thoughts, keeping your determination on reaching your goals always always always empowered me.

For me, it’s not only other women who is empowered by an empowered-women. It’s the whole people. So let’s say #EmpoweredWomenEmpowerAll , keep being empowered and empower others, shall we?

*Sharing to you all, some beauties of my life which constantly empower me 👯‍♀️ Whoops, I used “empower” words way too many but who’s counting anyway đŸ¤Ł

Indonesian in European & Friends Day!

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_4f63

Every summer semester, Hochschule Pforzheim organize an event called European and Friends Day! and this year, it held on May 7th, with me and my friends (Gerardus, Mawaddah, Kenjiro, and Rangga) as the participants represented Indonesia.

It was a great day! There are 15 booths represented 15 countries in the event. Those countries are Indonesia, Australia, China, Mexico, Thailand, Hungary, Croatia, France, Taiwan, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Korea, USA, and Scotland.

Participating this event is not as simple as coming and bubbling about Indonesia. All of us did some preparations. We bought materials for decorations, cut and pin some pieces of stuff in the pinboard, created table layout, searched for videos to show, created powerpoint to present, we even cooked some Indonesian cuisine so people who came to our booth can taste our amazingly delicious Rendang, Bakwan, and Nasi Goreng!

In the D-Day, We got some compliments from other students, lecturers, even reporters. Most compliments are addressed for the cuisine and our booth’s layout, but I remembered that we also got compliments for our dress code, YES! we used BATIK 🙂

In the event, we separated our tasks to look after our booth because all of us also want to see other countries’ booth, ask about their culture and taste their traditional cuisine.

Our booth’s visitors asked us about Indonesia’s culture, language and mostly our opinion about living in Pforzheim and its differences with Indonesia, but some others asked us about our home university in Indonesia, ITB (me and Mawaddah) and UGM (Gerardus, Kenji, and Rangga) because they are going to do their exchange program just like what we did in Hochschule Pforzheim. We gave them information we knew and exchange our WhatsApp number so we can communicate and help them when they want to ask any further questions.

The next day after the event, my German Language teacher emailed me that all of us appeared in “Pforzheimer Zeitung” (Regional Newspaper in Pforzheim). We were shocked and proud at the same time because what we did in Pforzheim while represented Indonesia is appreciated and spread out!

It was just a small move from us to a better-known Indonesia, we hope we can make bigger things and keep spreading out the goodness and uniqueness of Indonesia and everything in it wherever we go and whatever we do. ❤

TAKE A CLOSER LOOK WITH THE AMBITIOUS LADY ‘KEN RATRI ISWARI’

You must be familiar with Ken Ratri Iswari! Don’t you? Let’s take a closer look at her!

Ngomong-ngomong, soal kemimpinan, sebagai pemimpin Ken selalu berusaha membangun collaboration, inclusion, and consultation. Ken beranggapan bahwa,

“The result within a company is a culture where everyone’s ideas and insights are heard and considered in making decisions and where people feel valued, and therefore committed to achieving organizational goals.”

She just have to win everything! Ditambahlagi motto hidupnya “You only Live Once”, membuat Ken eager to be the best in everything!

Last, but not least, to whoever you are who reading this article, let’s together say Amen to Ken’s major dream: Having her own office in Hunter Street, Sydney, Australia.

NYOMAN ANJANI: “Every woman should be well-mannered and elegant by nature”

Untitled

Nyoman Anjani, Project Engineer Unilever Phillipines.

Nyoman Anjani, Presiden KM ITB 2013-2014.

1

“That was the best experience ever! It has changed my life so much” ujarnya.

Ia berpendapat bahwa “Kita sebagai wanita harus pandai berbagi peran dan membagi peran dalam organisasi, place the right person on the right position.”

  • Coba dianalisis apa root cause/akar permasalahannya.

Every women should be well-mannered and elegant by nature.
